Over 600 Clare businesses have already applied for funding over the government’s Restart Grant scheme.
The grant will provide direct aid to small businesses to help them with the costs of re-opening following COVID-19 closures.
The grant is the equivalent of a business’ rates bill for last year, and is worth up to €10,000.
The scheme is only available for companies that were levied rates in 2019, so concern is being expressed that a number of traders, who have suffered a loss of income and extra costs as a result of COVID-19, are being sidelined.
Gavin was joined to discuss this on Tuesday by Cllr Pat Hayes, and by Ennis-based sound engineer Matt Purcell.
