Last week, farmers from across the country travelled to Dublin to protest at the government buildings over delays in implementing reforms for the Fair Deal scheme.
Under the current regime, farm families and small business owners are required to set aside 7.5% of the value of their land annually to fund a place in a nursing home.
Changes, though passed, have yet to be brought in and Geraldine O’Connell, who is Clare’s IFA Farm Family Committee Chair, spoke to Clare FM from that protest (from 9:30).
Also this week, Newmarket-on-Fergus based agricultural solicitor Aisling Meehan has advice on Rights of Way (from 14:40) and Teagasc’s Paula O’Leary has tips on completing your Basic Payment Scheme application (1:20).
