A young man has been arrested as part of an investigation into a major drugs seizure in Clare.
Gardaí seized €21,000 worth of cannibis herb yesterday, during a search in the Miltown Malbay area.
The search was a follow-up search to a previous operation in which €160,000 worth of drugs and a firearm was seized.
Gardaí from the Clare Divisional Drug Unit obtained a search warrant for a house in Miltown Malbay yesterday as part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs here.
During the search, they seized cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €21,000.
A 22 year old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Ennis Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
He has since been released from custody and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardáí say the operation followed on from another search which had occured in the Kilmurry area on Friday.
A house and lands were searched in that operation, while later a man in his twenties was arrested after a car was searched on the Tulla Road in Ennis.
Cocaine and cannabis herb with an estimated street value of 160 thousand euro was found in both searches, allong with a sub-machine gun and ammunition.
A man in his 20s was arrested and later released from custody, with a file to be sent to the DPP.
