25-year-old Karl Haugh from Marian Estate lost his life following an incident in the Marian Estate the early hours of Sunday morning.

He had just turned 25 in June and recently welcomed his first child – a daughter, Evelyn Jane.

Karl’s sudden death at the weekend was sadly not the first tragedy to befall the family.

In 2003, Bridget and Joseph Haugh lost their daughter Stacey in a car crash when she was just 16 years old.

Father Gerry Kenny spoke of their pain at the loss of their daughter and how they had worried for Karl in the months following her death.

Karl’s friends also spoke about their time in school together and how he aimed to make his love of fitness and sport his career.

After the funeral service, Karl’s daughter joined his parents in following the hearse to make the short journey to Lisdeen cemetery, where he was laid to rest.
