Workers at nine Tesco stores to strike

Workers at nine Tesco stores are to go on strike on Valentine’s Day.

Mandate trade union has issued a notice of indefinite strike as a row over long term contracts escalates.

Tesco is trying to cut the pay of those employed before 1996.

Mandate say this would result in wage cuts of up to 15 per cent for some of the roughly 1,000 employees affected.

Tesco has two outlets in Clare in Ennis and Kilrush though those outlets aren’t among the nine stores where strikes are taking place next Tuesday.
