A prominent West Clare psychiatrist has added his voice for calls for more to be done to support unpaid family carers.
Dr John Hillery believes people who are caring for family members are saving the state a fortune – but get very little in return.
He says that proper support for carers produces wide benefits that can be justified in both humanitarian and financial terms.
