West Clare Psychiatrist Hits Out At ‘Inappropriate’ Psychiatric Care For Children

A prominent West Clare psychiatrist has described as ‘inappropriate’ the care that children are receiving at the psychiatric unit at the region’s main hospital.

It follows a Mental Health Commission report which shows that children were admitted to the Acute Psychiatric Unit at University Hospital Limerick, which is an adult service.

It was one of nine cases of non-compliance in mental health services found by the commission in a number of institutions across the country.
