Wintry Showers Lead to Dangerous Driving Conditions Throughout Clare

Gardaí in Clare are advising motorists to drive with extreme care this morning, as wintry showers lead to treacherous conditions on some county roads.

There were long tailbacks on the M18 motorway this morning, following a road crash at junction 11.

A yellow snow/ice warning has expired, but further wintry showers are forecast for today.

Drivers are being warned of slippery conditions on some county roads following wintry showers overnight.

The M18 motorway is said to be particularly bad between junction 10 Newmarket and Fergus and Junction 12 Ennis.

One car left the road at junction 11 shortly after 7 o’clock.

Gardaí, Clare County Fire Service and Ambulance attended the scene. The road was closed for a time but has since re-opened.

There’s no reports of any serious injuries.

Conditions on the N68 between Lisseycasey and Ennis, the Smithstown Road in Shannon and Corkskrew Hill are also said to be bad.

Further wintry showers are forecast for the rest of today and Gardaí are advising motorists to slow down and drive with care and allow extra time when making journeys today.
