Orange Weather Warning In Effect In Clare

Clare residents are being urged to be safety conscious this evening as Storm Atiyah continues to hit Ireland’s west coast.

A status Orange alert remains in place until tomorrow morning, and already gusts of 100 kilometres per hour have been recorded by Met Éireann at Shannon Airport this afternoon.

In coastal areas, communities are being alerted to the possibility of coastal flooding due to a combination of high seas and storm surge.

The warning is in place until 6 o’clock tomorrow morning.

Gardai have not recorded any problems at present but are advising motorists that conditions are windy and to take care on the roads.

But the ESB says around 100 of its customers are currently without power in the Corofin and O’Callaghan’s Mills areas.
