Water tankers and public taps as household taps hit by deep freeze

Temperatures plummeted to minus ten over the weekend causing many pipes to freeze.

Tankers have now been set up in Newmarket on Fergus, Sixmilebridge, Tulla, Scarrif Westbury, Shannon Banks, and Ennistymon while static pipes are in place in Ennis and Shannon.

The county council has also set up a dedicated water helpline for householders – 087 6377 770.

Chief Fire Officer Adrian Kelly says they may look at expanding the static pipes in the coming days but is also urging neighbours to help each other out anyway they can.
