Water Sample From Area In Clare Ten Times Over Legal Limit For Lead

Lead levels in a water sample taken from one area in Clare were ten times over the legal limit for safe consumption.

Irish Water figures obtained by The Irish Times show that this was the case in one sample taken from Kilkeedy, near Tubber, last year.

Across the country, some water samples are 15 times over the legal limit, with a sample near Sutton Dart Station in Dublin found to be the most contaminated by lead.

Unsafe levels were also identified in Kilmacthomas in Co Waterford, Gorey in Wexford and Screggan in Offaly.
