One person has been taken to hospital after entering the water at Killaloe Bridge in the early hours of this morning.
The alarm was raised at around quarter past two, following multiple reports of a person seen entering the water.
The Killaloe Coastguard unit was dispatched to the scene and was informed en route that a second person had entered the water in an effort to bring the casualty to safety.

The two people were located on the shoreline close to Ballina slipway a short time later, and were found to be cold and shaken, but safe and well.
One person has since been transferred to University Hospital Limerick for observation.
