Minister Hopeful Of Progress To Address Springfield Flood Problems

The Minister with responsibility for the OPW says he’s hopeful of progress soon on flood mitigation works at Springfield, Clonlara.

The South-East Clare townland has been a flooding blackspot in recent years, and in spite of a long-running campaign by local residents, many feel they’re still exposed in the event of heavy rainfalls.

The matter was raised in the Dáil yesterday by Clare Independent TD D. Michael Harty, who sought an update on planned flood protection works there, as well as efforts to clear a section of the River Shannon downstream from Springfield at Plassey in Limerick.
