Bank Holiday Swimmers Warned Of Strong Rip Currents At Clare Beaches

Those flocking to Clare’s beaches this Bank Holiday weekend are being warned that the new moon will bring strong rip currents with it.

The change in the lunar pattern means spring tides will come with it, creating a higher risk than usual for swimmers, boaters, anglers and any other water activity.

Those who get caught in a rip current are being urged not to panic and to swim parallel to the coast until they manage to escape it and then aim for the shore.
