Water Restrictions In Force In North Clare Amid Heatwave

Irish Water has brought in water restrictions in parts of North Clare to conserve supplies as the heatwave continues.

The restrictions effect homes in the Lahinch, Liscannor and surrounding areas and are part of ongoing efforts by the utility to preserve water supply.

Despite a drop in temperatures over the weekend, the mercury is expected to rise to the mid to high 20s in the coming days.

It has led to severe concern over water supplies being depleted as levels in rivers and reservoirs continue to drop.

Though restrictions have already been implemented in other counties, this is the first in Clare.

Statement from Irish Water

Due to the unprecedented dry weather conditions and in an effort to conserve and evenly distribute supply in Lahinch, Liscannor and surrounding areas will have supply restrictions from 8pm. Ennistymon will also have interrupted supply due to burst watermain.
