Clare’s County Dog Warden is issuing a warning to motorists after a loose dog caused havoc on the motorway.

The black and white collie was loose on the M18 near the Dromoland exit on Thursday last for over half an hour.

Gardaí, the Road Safety Authority and Frankie Coote attended the scene and closed the road before managing to get the dog to safety and return it to its owner, who was then fined €100.

But Frankie says drivers failed to slow down despite sirens warning them and says it was a highly dangerous situation.
