Warning After Bogus Traders Target Clare Homes

Householders are being urged to remain on alert, following reports of bogus traders in East Clare.

Two men called to a house in Tola Park, Shannon on Monday last offering to repair damage caused to the roof, but said that it must be paid for upfront.

The money was handed over but the men left without completing the work.

A similar incident happened in the Inis Mhara Estate in Shannon on October 31st, while on November 14th in Feakle, a man offering to sell lights to an elderly women left after discovering someone else was in the house.

Gardaí are advising people not to hand over money to cold callers, to always check for certification when hiring tradespeople and to never leave workers on your property without supervision.
