Clare’s Sinn Féin Councillor has expressed serious concern over the high number of elderly patients left waiting on trolleys for extended periods at the main local hospitals.

HSE Figures show 1,746 patients over the age of 75 were not seen within 24 hours at University Hospital Limerick in 2017, while in Galway, the figure was 1,244.

That represents over 26% of patients in that age group.
