Varadkar ‘Worried And Disturbed’ About Care For Suicidal Young Girl

The Taoiseach-to-be Leo Varadkar says reports of a suicidal young girl being denied an abortion are ‘worrying and disturbing’.

The girl was moved to a psychiatric unit as she sought a termination, on the advice of a psychiatrist who said an abortion was not the solution.

Under current legislation an abortion is allowed if there’s a substantial threat to the mother’s life, including a threat of suicide.
