Varadkar Warned Not To Ease Plans To Lower National Debt

The Government’s budget watchdog has dealt a blow to Leo Varadkar’s budget hopes – by telling him not to cut back on plans to lower the national debt.

Varadkar wants to ease back on plans to lower our debt total – leaving it at 55 per cent of GDP, instead of 45.

But today the Fiscal Advisory Council has suggested the 45 per cent target might not go far enough, and wants further reductions.
