The Taoiseach now says he never contacted Clare County Council about a proposed wind farm next to Donald Trump’s hotel in Doonbeg.

Leo Varadkar says he mis-spoke yesterday when he made his comments on Capitol Hill, and it was actually Fáilte Ireland he contacted after Donald Trump expressed concerns about the proposed wind farm.

The Taoiseach has also denied it was a gaffe on his part.

After fierce opposition criticism, Leo Varadkar admits he got the story wrong when telling it.

The Taoiseach has also released the email he sent to Failte Ireland in February 2014.

It says Donald Trump is concerned about plans to build a very large wind farm near Doonbeg.

In the email, the Taoiseach says he doesn’t want to get into the “nitty gritty” of it, but asked if the planning permission could be looked at.
