Varadkar Describes Mayors’ RIC Boycotts As A “Shame”

The Taoiseach says he’s disappointed that some politicians, including the Mayor of Clare, are boycotting a planned commemoration to honour former members of the RIC.

Councillor Cathal Crowe’s decision to not attend next week’s event in Dublin Castle has now been backed up by Mayors in Cork and Galway, as well as other politicians.

He says his decision is a personal one, and has criticised the decision to commemorate members of the former Royal Irish Constabulary as “revisionism gone to far.”
