Meanwhile Shannon Airport was on high alert last night for a brief stopover visit by the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Her Special Air Mission aircraft had a scheduled refuelling stop for one hour last night, en route to Moscow.
US Secret service officials met with Gardai, army and airport personnel earlier this week to ensure security would be stepped up for the operation.
