Upturn In Clare’s Construction Industry

New CSO figures appear to show a gradual upturn in the county’s construction industry.

The number of planning permissions granted here is on the up.

In the first six months of the year, Clare County Council gave the go ahead for 194 new houses and 8 new apartments to be built here.

75 of the new houses are one-off developments, while the remainder come in three separate applications at new housing estates.

The figures are running 80% ahead of the same time last year, although that may not continue to be the case as the third quarter of 2016 saw 176 new homes given the go-ahead.

However, besides this, the first half of this year has seen the highest level of planning approvals since 2010.
