UL Hospitals Group Says Patient Care In Clare Has Improved Since Closure Of Ennis ED

University Hospital Limerick emergency department

The UL Hospitals Group insists that the quality of health care provided in Clare has greatly improved, since the ED was closed at Ennis General Hospital.

Since 2009, University Hospital Limerick has been the sole emergency department serving the Midwest’s population of 385,000.

Ennis and Nenagh Hospitals, as well as St John’s in Limerick, have operated injury and medical assessment units since the reconfiguration of the UL Hospitals Group.

But serious cases can only be seen at UHL, which has led to repeated concerns since reconfiguration, something Chief Clinical Director Professor Paul Burke has moved to put to rest.
