UHL Face Another Surge In Overcrowding Levels

There’s been another surge in the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital.

45 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, according to the latest figures from the INMO, 23 of those in the emergency department.

This is despite the opening of a new 17-bed unit in the old ED which has been newly refurbished, as part of efforts to ease trolley numbers.

It comes on a day when 425 patients have been left waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
