Two Well Known Clare People To Be Conferred With NUIG Honour

Renowned musician Sharon Shannon is to receive an honourary degree from NUI Galway.

The Ruan native, who is based in Galway, has influenced a generation of musicians, with over 10 multi-award winning albums and numerous awards including Hot Press and Meteor Awards.

Also receiving an honorary degree is Dr Brendan Dunford.

He has been instrumental in re-invigorating biodiversity within the Burren through his initiative around Burren LIFE and the Burren programme.

Catherine Corless, a campaigner on behalf of survivors and deceased of the Tuam Mother and Baby Home and Helen Rochford Brennan, who is an activist for rights of people with dementia, will also be honoured by the University.
