Two Arrested In Connection With Drug Searches Released From Garda Custody

Further searches have been conducted in Newmarket on Fergus in connection with an operation targetting drug trafficking led by Clare Gardaí.

Cocaine with an estimated value of €70,000 was discovered during the search of a car, which was stopped by Gardaí in Birdhill, Co.Tipperary yesterday afternoon.

Two people; a 30-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were arrested and detained at Shannon Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

They have both since been released from Garda custody this afternoon and a file will be sent to the DPP with a view to obtaining charges.

Further searches of a house in Newmarket on Fergus uncovered drug paraphernalia including a weighing scales and packaging.

The ongoing operation is being led by Clare Gardaí assisted by drugs units from the Limerick Division.
