In an in-depth interview on Clare FM’s Morning Focus today, Minister Katherine Zappone said she is deeply concerned at what she called Donald Trump’s “very dangerous international policies”.

Taioseach Leo Varadkar will make the traditional visit to the White House as part of St Patrick’s Day Celebrations and has said it would be rude not to invite Trump here.

While she accepts the Taoiseach’s statement, the Minister Zappone doesn’t think that a visit by Trump is a good idea.

Separately, the Minister has announced 108,000 euro in funding for the Little Deers Creche in Ennistymon, which will allow for the relocation of the community-based childcare facility to an alternative site.

Little Deers had been located in Deerpark, but have been forced to find another premises.

Ennistymon Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway says the funding will go a long way towards securing the future of the facility.
