North Korea’s recent missile tests have left an uneasy feeling among world leaders in recent weeks.

North Korea says their test yesterday morning involved the successful detonation of a huge hydrogen bomb, and media in South Korea reports the North’s leader Kim Jong Un is preparing for another ballistic missile launch.

Former British Ambassador to North Korea John Everard says it isn’t a surprise but questions need to be answered.

The US is warning it has the ironclad backing of its allies on North Korea.

The UN Security Council is due to meet later today – as the US defence secretary James Mattis warns any threat to America or its allies will be met with a massive military response.

Tensions have been building over recent weeks and months, but one Clare man in South Korea’s capital isn’t unduly concerned.
Sam Higgins from Bunratty has been living in Seoul for 12 years, and the city is located a short distance from the border with the North.

But speaking to Clare FM on Friday last, before the latest missile test, he said people living there are used to hearing threats from the North.
