Hope is being expressed that a “rural Uber” type service that’s been trialled on the Loop Head peninsula will be rolled out to other remote parts of the county.

Local Lift is now up and running in the area for a three month trial period and sees those with cars in rural parts link up with those who have no access to transport, to offer them a lift.

Clare County Council was approved for funding from Enterprise Ireland last year to get the system operating, in an effort to address rural access concerns.
