Transport Minister Urged To Intervene To Save Shannon-Chicago Route

An Ennis hotelier is urging the Transport Minister to step in and ensure the Shannon to Chicago air route isn’t lost for good.

United Airlines last week announced its intention not to return to the MidWest airport next year – something it’s feared will have a major impact on local tourism and business.

The carrier claims it’s not a financially viable route – and it comes shortly after United’s decision to axe its flights from Shannon to Newark for part of the year.
