Tom McNamara Won’t Seek Council Re-Election

Former Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council Tom McNamara has told Fianna Fáil members that he will not be seeking re-election to the local authority.

The Kilmaley representative was first elected to the Council in 2009, and held onto his seat five years later.

He became the county’s first citizen in 2017.

He informed party members of his decision at tonight’s selection convention for the West Clare Municipal District, at which sitting Councillors Bill Chambers and PJ Kelly were nominated to run for the party this May.
