Thousands Set To Take In St Patrick’s Day Parades Across Clare

Thousands of people throughout Co. Clare are celebrating Ireland’s National Holiday on this St. Patrick’s Day.

Up to 10,000 people are expected to attend the county’s biggest parade in Ennis, where festivities will begin at 11 a.m.

Everest conqueror John Burke is this year’s Grand Marshall – an honour he’ll also take-up in Miltown Malbay where today’s parade begins at 2pm.

At the same time, the Killaloe/Ballina parade begins, while they’re underway in Shannon, Doolin and Ennistymon at 1:30.

There’s a 2 o’clock start in Kilrush, while the parade in Kilfenora – which includes the famour Fr. Ted roundabout on its route – kicks off at noon.

The latest parade in Clare today is in Tulla, where proceedings will start at 4:30.
