TDs ‘Won’t Be Bound’ By Citizens Assembly Abortion Suggestions

A Fine Gael minister says his party’s members will not be bound by the recommendations of the Citizens Assembly on abortion.

Richard Bruton says TDs still have to do their own jobs as legislators and make recommendations to the rest of the Oireachtas.

He’s been asked in the Dail today whether Fine Gael’s members of a new Oireachtas committee will uphold the call to allow abortion under all circumstances up to 12 weeks of pregnancy.
