Swimming Banned Temporarily At Four Clare Beaches Following Heavy Rain

A temporary swimming ban has been issued at four Clare beaches.

Clare County Council has implemented swimming restrictions at Lahinch, White Strand -Miltown Malbay, Spanish Point and Kilkee following advice from the HSE.

Testing in recent days uncovered increased bacterial levels in the water which was caused by run-off from the catchment area after heavy rainfall.

The local authority says is being monitored regularly and the prohibition on swimming will remain until further notice.
