Swimming Ban In Place At Doonbeg Beach

A swimming ban has been issued for one of West Clare’s Blue Flag beaches.

The bathing restrictions have been in place at Whitestrand, Doonbeg, following advice from the HSE, due to elevated levels of ecoli after persistent rain last Sunday night and Monday morning.

The local authority is carrying out an investigation into the cause of the pollution and is hoping to lift restriction by the weekend, if water test results from today and tomorrow are deemed by the HSE to be within bathing water quality limits.
