Surge In Applications For Social Housing Predicted

The Chair of Clare County Council’s Housing Committee is predicting a surge in applications for social housing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As it stands, 4,354 tenancies are supported by the local authority, with 1,332 of those in receipt of the Housing Assistance Payment.

Shannon Councillor Gerry Flynn believes there will be more demand for social housing, on account of increased job losses in recent weeks, something he says will prove difficult.
