Supports Will Be In Place For Farmers Even If Brexit Deal Is Secured – Heydon

Farmers in Clare are being reassured that supports will be in place for the agriculture sector, even if a Brexit deal is secured.

It’s understood the Government is finalising a 400 million euro Brexit support package, which the Irish Farmers Journal reports is aligned to an impact assessment carried out by Teagasc showing the impact of Brexit on farm incomes.

Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Martin Heydon has told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that maintaining access to the British market is vital and that full tariffs on beef in a no deal scenario would be catastrophic for the sector here.
