It’s claimed government efforts to bolster CCTV in rural areas have brought such schemes “to a halt.”
After community-operated security camera schemes began to be established in some areas, the government allocated €3 million to assist communities with the costs.
However, instead of leading to more security cameras, it’s claimed the legislation attached to this has made it onerous for schemes to be setup altogether.
