Sixmilebridge Solar Farm Given Green Light

A major solar farm near Sixmilebridge has been given the green light.

Terra Solar wants to construct a development at Firgrove, which could provide power to around 2,000 homes.

The plans include 34,300 square metres of solar panels on ground-mounted steel frames, as well as a substation, underground cable work and plans to demolish an existing derelict cottage on the site.

Terra Solar claims it will produce enough power for around 2,000 homes when it’s operational and it would be connected to the National Grid.

It’s the firm’s second development in this county – they were given the go-ahead for a solar farm with the potential to power 1,200 homes at Ballymorris, near Cratloe in May, which is set to be Clare’s first solar farm when it’s built.
