Shannon’s SPS celebrates 50 years in business

Celebrations to mark 50 years of business for one of the Shannon Free Zone’s longest serving residents are continuing in the hope that the success of the SPS company is a positive sign for the future.

"Standard Pressed Steel" was one of the USA’s premier precision engineering companies, when it first leased premises from Shannon Development in 1960 with an initial workforce of around 80 which later rose to 500.

50 years later the company’s presence is still felt in the form of the Hi-Life Tools Manufacturing Facility in Shannon which employs 101 people, and the Deepak Fasteners business which employs 76 people in the manufacture of "Unbrako" screws.
