Shannon Heritage To Receive €2.6 Million To Keep Bunratty And King John’s Castles Open Until End Of The Year

Shannon Heritage is to receive €2.6 million euro to allow it keep Bunratty and King John’s Castles open until the end of the year.

Local government TDs have welcomed the announcement, saying it safeguards the future of up 60 workers who had been facing an uncertain future.

Earlier this week, Shannon Group said they were seeking a total of €6.4 million, a figure that would have enabled them to keep both sites open until next June.

Today’s funding only covers up to the end of this year.

Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey has suggested that the future of Shannon Heritage beyond that will be covered by an ongoing review of Shannon Group.
