Shannon Group CEO To Depart From His Role

Shannon Group’s CEO has announced he’s to leave his position with the company.

Matthew Thomas is leaving the role he has held since 2016.

The 46-year-old has previously servied as the Chief Commercial Officer with the Vantage Airport Group, a role which saw him play a leading role in the $4 billion redevelopment of New York’s La Guardia Airport.

In Shannon, he has served as CEO of Shannon Group – the parent company of Shannon Airport, Shannon Heritage and Shannon Commercial Properties.

During his time, there has been a significant investment by the group’s Commercial Properties arm, while in the Airport passenger numbers grew to its highest level in over a decade.

Now, however, it’s been announced that Mr. Thomas is to leave the position after less than three years, to take up a position as CEO of the Ports of Jersey.

Shannon Group Chairman Rose Hynes has thanked Matthew Thomas for what she described as his “vital contribution” to the growth of Shannon Group under his tenure while Mr. Thomas himself says the Group is now “on an ambitious course” with significant investment plans in the years to come.

Mary Considine, who is currently Deputy CEO for the Group, will take on the role of Acting CEO when Mr. Thomas leaves in June.
