Shannon Chamber Confident Midwest Will Still Have A Voice In Government

A prominent local business group has played down concerns that the lack of a MidWest representative at Leo Varadkar’s cabinet table could be damaging for the county.

Shannon Chamber has also vowed to exert pressure in order to keep this area on the government’s radar.

The business representative group has congratulated Junior Ministers Pat Breen and Patrick O’Donovan on their respective appointments, but says it’s also confident that the Taoiseach himself is aware of local issues.

Shannon Chamber is vowing that business representative groups in the West and Midwest will look to exert influence on government for the good of the region.

It’s after the new Taoiseach Leo Varadkar failed to appoint any senior Minister from Clare, Limerick, Kerry or Galway to his cabinet.

This has led to concerns from some quarters that the region could lose out, although Shannon Chamber CEO Helen Downes is confident that own’t be the case.

She says they will look to put political pressure on themselves, where it’s needed.
