A Shannon based pharmacist is supporting calls for urgent progress on resourcing healthcare in the community.

The Irish Pharmacy Union is urging the Government to deliver new and efficient ways to treat patients in their communities.

The union claims new services such as a minor ailments scheme for medical card holders, a medication monitoring service for patients with long term illnesses and a chronic disease management scheme could significantly enhance primary healthcare.
