On March 29th next, Aer Lingus will commence a four-times a week service between Shannon and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

This will be followed on May 2nd by the thrice weekly Shannon to Barcelona service.

The routes will run until October 31st as part of Aer Lingus’s summer schedule.

Reid Moody from Aer Lingus is hopeful that there will also be inward passengers on these flights, looking to avail of Shannon’s other offerings.

On top of other existing routes, including transatlantic services, today’s announcement will see Aer Lingus fly around half a million passengers from Shannon next year, up some 20%.

The news will come as particularly welcome in the face of Brexit, which, if all goes ahead as planned, would see Shannon’s current only major hub of London Heathrow be outside of the EU.

CEO of Shannon Group Mary Considine says it’s an exciting time for the airport and she’s also hopeful of Air Canada resuming its flights from Shannon next year.
