Shannon is the first airport in the country to take delivery of new High Reach fire tenders.
The new tenders reduce the risk to firefighters in aviation fires as they can extinguish flames by remote control from the cab.
Shannon Airport has also recruited new firefighters after a process that saw applicants whittled down from 500 to 10.

The recruits are undergoing an intensive 12-week training programme which will equip them to begin work in the combined role of airport police and fire personnel.
