Sewage Problems In Meelick Causing Residents Distress

It is claimed residents in a Meelick housing estate are feeling “nauseous and sick” because of foul stenches coming from the sewage system.

Local Councillor Cathal Crowe claims there’s been a recurring problem at Ballycanon Heights – the estate was built in the 1980s when homeowners were assured a sewage treatment plant on the site would be closed down but this never happened.

Odour-treating chemicals have been added as a temporary measure by Clare County Council but there are calls for Irish Water to investigate a more permanent solution.
