Serious Concern Over Future Of Clare Fire Service

Calls have been made for a review of Clare’s Fire Service, amid serious concern about the future of the service.

22 fire personnel have left the county’s fire stations in the past three years, including high ranking officers, and it’s feared more will follow due to pay and procedural concerns.

Clare County Council has sought applications for the retained fire-fighter panels for Ennistymon, Scarriff, Shannon, Kilkee and Kilrush in the past month.

The issue is due to be raised at this afternoon’s meeting of the local authority by Ennis Fine Gael Councillor Johnny Flynn, who served with Clare and Limerick Fire Services for 25 years.
